Architectural Lighting Design

DESIGN SOLUTIONS

The architectural lighting design concept is a crucial part of your overall design vision for your public space or streetscape project. The architectural lighting design has the ability to bring safety and life to your project at night and subtle vertical accents by day. Your overall design concept will certainly be shown in the best light if you can get the architectural lighting design right.

All designers are aware of the need for energy efficient design solutions. We all know how important it is to design out wasteful energy consumption and excessive maintenance requirements. The architectural lighting design is no different and requires the same level of attention as every other facet of your project.

Energy Efficient Architectural Lighting Design Services

Architectural lighting design should result in an energy efficient lighting design that is simple to maintain and reflects the ethos of the overall project design. It should be sympathetic to the area where it is installed and should utilise the latest technology and always meet relevant national and international standards. It never has to be a compromise.

Our Architectural Lighting Design Services

Often architects rely on design services provided by manufacturers. Such designs are usually offered on an ‘advisory’ basis and as such the providers need to distance themselves from the duties laid out for designers in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, which came into effect for designers in 2014. The architect can assume the statutory duties provided they have the appropriate competence in lighting design.

The current Capital Works Management Framework also reflect the changes in the regulations. Bidders now have to stipulate who will carry out tasks not undertaken within the bidder’s organisation. Such external service providers must be able to demonstrate their competence to carry out the task and must be able to comply with the duties laid out in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.

Many local authorities tender for architect led design teams. These tenders also call for nominated outside service providers and have the same compliance requirements as already mentioned.

We can work with you to ensure that your bid and your subsequent project meets the statutory requirements with regard to the lighting design component. We ensure that your lighting design meets relevant standards and is as energy efficient as possible.
